Movie Review:
Vijay Kumar Arora’s latest directorial venture is an energetic cocktail of comedy, romance, and family drama that keeps you hooked with its vibrant storytelling and charismatic performances. At the heart of the film is Jassi (Ajay Devgn), a man returning to Scotland after years abroad, determined to mend his fractured marriage with his wife, played with warmth and grace by Mrunal Thakur.
What begins as a heartfelt personal mission quickly turns into a whirlwind of chaos when Jassi is unexpectedly entangled in a dangerous mob dispute. Add to that the madness of a grand Punjabi wedding — with all its music, dancing, relatives, and inevitable drama — and you’ve got a recipe for both confusion and hilarity.
Ajay Devgn slips into the role of Jassi with ease, blending humor, vulnerability, and understated heroism. His chemistry with Mrunal Thakur is heartfelt, providing the film with an emotional core that balances the loud comedy. Kubbra Sait steals scenes with her quirky and unpredictable character, adding a fresh comedic edge.
The film thrives in its ability to merge different genres — the mob subplot brings tension, the wedding scenes offer rich cultural flavor, and the marital storyline gives it heart. The vibrant cinematography captures Scotland’s scenic beauty while also embracing the colorful spectacle of a Punjabi celebration. The soundtrack is equally engaging, with lively bhangra beats and a few soulful numbers that fit the narrative perfectly.
However, the movie isn’t without its hiccups. Some comedic sequences stretch too long, and the over-the-top moments might feel exaggerated to viewers looking for subtle humor. But for those who enjoy big, loud Bollywood entertainers with a mix of action, comedy, and emotion, this is a satisfying watch.
By the time the credits roll, the film leaves you smiling — not just for its humor, but for its heart. It’s a celebration of love, family, and the unpredictable chaos that comes when the two collide.
Verdict: A colorful, fun-filled ride that delivers laughter, drama, and emotion in equal measure.
Full Story:
Jassi (Ajay Devgn), a once-carefree Punjabi man, has been living abroad for years after a fallout with his wife Simran (Mrunal Thakur). The separation was fueled by misunderstandings, cultural differences, and Jassi’s inability to balance his personal dreams with his responsibilities as a husband. Now older, wiser, and carrying the guilt of his mistakes, he returns to Scotland with a single mission — to win back Simran’s heart.
When Jassi arrives, he finds Simran still in Scotland, living independently and working as an event planner. She isn’t exactly thrilled to see him; her guard is up, and her heart isn’t ready to forgive. But fate has other plans — Simran is in charge of organizing a massive Punjabi wedding for an influential family, and due to a staffing shortage, Jassi is reluctantly roped in to help.
Things take a sharp turn when the groom’s uncle, who happens to be connected to a local mob, becomes a target of a rival gang. In a twist of bad luck, Jassi accidentally gets caught in the middle of a tense hostage situation during a pre-wedding function. Now, instead of focusing on romance, he finds himself dealing with dangerous criminals, confused relatives, and a series of ridiculous misunderstandings.
Throughout the chaos, Jassi tries to prove his worth — not just by protecting everyone from the mob threat but also by helping Simran manage the increasingly out-of-control wedding preparations. From missing jewelry to drunken uncles, from a sabotaged catering order to a bhangra dance-off gone wrong, Jassi’s quick thinking (and occasional blunders) lead to both trouble and laughter.
Kubbra Sait plays Simran’s outspoken best friend, who initially sees Jassi as nothing but trouble but slowly starts rooting for him as she witnesses his sincerity and efforts to change.
The climax unfolds during the wedding itself, where the rival gang makes one last attempt to disrupt the celebrations. In a mix of comedic confusion and action, Jassi manages to outsmart the goons, save the family’s honor, and finally earn Simran’s trust. The emotional high point comes when Simran admits that beneath all the drama, she’s seen the man she once loved — only this time, he’s better, stronger, and more selfless.
The film ends with the newly reconciled couple dancing together under the Scottish night sky, surrounded by family, friends, and the vibrant sounds of dhol and laughter — a symbolic reminder that love, when tested, can come back even stronger.
